Thomason Machine Works, Inc. is proud to support: The EAA's Young Eagles
Mike Thomason is a proud Young Eagles Flight Leader with 33 Young Eagles flown. We were proud to donate our pilot and fuel for the 2010 Blackhawk Aircamp at the Rockford Airport on 9/25/2010. We flew 6 missons with a total of 18 Young Eagles. The majority of these children have never ridden in an airplane. Also, many of them are working on their Boy Scouts aviation badge. We are waiting for the final talley but, it was estimated that there were well over 500 Young Eagles flown at this event. Below are some pictures of this event.
Future pilots taking their first airplane ride. This was the traffic jam waiting to take off. At one point in time we were number 13 waiting for clearance from the tower for our 20 mile round trip flight. This was a very small view of the flight line. There were at least 40 planes involved in the Blackhawk Air Camp
Here is a picture of the flightline from the air. N9913U is Far right row, 2nd from the top.
"Taking Harry Potter Home" A white snow owl was found in the bottom of a huge rock quarry in Rockford, IL. He had a broken wing and needed rehablitation. After approximately 6 months of rehabliation and paper work, the owl dubbed "Harry Potter" was ready for his trip back to Niagra Falls. He needed to be taken to the Customs and Border Control on the Livingston Bridge between New York and Canada. Then he would be taken to the largest owl conservatory for a while before his trip back to the Great White Tundra. Hoo Haven Rehablitators in Durand, IL told Jim Thomason that they had a white snow owl named called "Harry Potter" that they need to get from Rockford, IL to Niagra Falls, New York with as little time and stress possible for "Harry". Jim told them that he would supply the plane, fuel and pilot "Mike Thomason" to fly him back free of charge...
Thomason Machine Works, Inc. has also give many other donations to Hoo Haven in the past. We have also made dozens of plaques for the animal pens at Hoo Haven which are usually donated by local companies and built by members of the commuinty and Eagle Scouts.
We are proud to have particiapted in the Stillman Valley Fall Festival parade for the past 5 years, and this year we are especially proud to be a Corporate Sponsor of the 2010 Fall Festival. |
